FAQS
Why is 6mm the smallest direct-fit size you offer for the DF 700?
Due to the large M12 threaded spindle of the DF 700, 6mm is the structural limit for a direct-mount bit. Anything smaller would compromise the strength of the shank. For 4mm or 5mm needs, we highly recommend our DF700 to DF500 Adapter system.
Can these bits handle the full 70mm plunging depth of the DF 700 XL without clogging?
Yes. Our bits are designed with high-volume, fully-ground flutes specifically to handle deep mortises. When plunging to the maximum 70mm depth, we recommend a steady, rhythmic plunge to allow the specialized geometry to eject chips efficiently. This prevents "clogging" and ensures the carbide tip remains cool even in dense hardwoods.
How many times can these carbide-tipped cutters be resharpened?
Because we use high-density micro-grain tungsten carbide, you can typically resharpen these bits 3 to 5 times depending on the wear level. However, please note that resharpening will slightly reduce the diameter of the bit. For critical, high-precision joints where a "perfect fit" is required, we recommend using a new bit to maintain the exact factory-spec tolerances.
Are these bits suitable for extremely hard exotic woods like Ipe or White Oak?
Absolutely. The combination of an HSS shank for flexibility and a silver-brazed carbide tip for hardness makes our cutters ideal for tough materials. For extremely hard woods, we suggest setting your DF 700 to its highest speed and using a slightly slower plunge rate to maintain the mirror-like finish of the mortise walls and extend the edge life of the tool.
